SEAGLASS
Seaglass is naturally weathered glass found on beaches along bodies of salt water. The salt weathering process produces a natural frost coating and smoothed edges to the outside of each piece; this can take anywhere from 20-200 years. The seaglass used in our bead strands comes from Ghana.
MUDCLOTH
Bogolan, or "mud cloth," is a handmade Malian cotton fabric, traditionally dyed with fermented mud, applied by hand while threads are woven or spun. It has an important place in traditional Malian culture and has, more recently, become a symbol of Malian cultural identity. The cloth is exported worldwide for use in fashion, fine art and decoration.
ORGANIC COTTON
Organic cotton is non-genetically modified cotton grown in subtropical countries, such as India, Turkey, China, and parts of the USA, without the use of synthetic agricultural chemicals. Its production promotes biodiversity and natural biological cycles.
